WOYWW - Experimentation

Good morning fellow deskers and nosey non-deskers!

Y'all...

IT IS EARLY!

Y'all probably know by now, and even if y'all don't... I am so very much NOT an early riser.  People keep telling me it's because I don't go to bed until 3 AM but I'm not sure that's it.  It's half past eight in the morning and I am waiting on a sheet rock guy to come and repair the holes in my bathrooms left by a plumber before Christmas!

There isn't enough coffee in the world for this.

As I was trying to scrub the eye crusties out and focus a bit it occurred to me... it's Wednesday.  So now I have to go take a picture of my desk.

Last night's experiment/project still left out!  Hot glue stencils to use with spray inks and gelli printing!

I'm not very good with a hot glue gun.  But I tried!  Most tutorials you see about these stencils all say to use a silicone baking sheet.  I don't have one and I wasn't running to Walmart at 2 am to buy one.  I figured I would just try my "heat resistant" craft mat.  Yep... totally worked!  No fancy schmancy baking sheet for me!  I would however like to upgrade my teensy tiny hot glue gun to one normal sized eventually.  Though the "mini" version worked just fine.

I'll definitely be making more of these.  They're kinda fun to make.  And really, who doesn't love an excuse to play with a hot glue gun after years of being told it's not a toy!

Hello hot mess!  Red and green papers for a (very late) Christmas themed ATC swap.  I keep several bags of different pens & colored pencils inside my Dylusions bag for my unPlanner which you can see there on the desk as well.  Bubble wrap, baby wipes, chalk, ATC bases, and more glue sticks.  That won't fit in my "mini" glue gun.  Could NOT remember which size I had so I bought both kinds of sticks.

That's what I've got for today.  Now to find more coffee!  Go visit Julia's and nose about some more desker's desks!

Until next time,

  1. Well that sounds like some good arty fun!

I want to come play at your house.

    After you've had more coffee, maybe . . .

    Happy WOYWW, Brenda lee!

  2. Now that's an interesting use of a glue gun. I like the idea of creating stencils for inking and use on the gelli plate. I've seen some clever embellishments made on with glitter glue and the demonstrator used a craft mat too Unfortunately, my glue gun has died so I need to find the one my husband has tucked away in the man-shed before I can experiment ... it could be a while before that happens because it is too chilly to venture out there today. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #48

  3. Those are pretty cool masks, Brenda! I've tried making them once - I had to buy a glue gun especially, as I didn't have one. It is the mini version as well, like yours and I also used my craft mat! I haven't used it since, and frankly, I forgot all about it! Now, I'm wanting to try it again, so thanks for the inspiration! Looking forward to seeing your DLP pages! Thanks for visiting earlier! zsuzsa #47

  4. Lol at your hot mess comment and I agree knowing you have to wake early for someone to do work is never my first choice I find in winter I go to bed pretty late too but playing with hot glue I'm sure you'd hear me cursing that early cause I've burned myself lol happy woyww and hope you get your work fixed up quickly hugs Nikki 8

  6. I like your unplanner - love the colours on it! I used to be a night person - heading that way again now that I've quit work. I seem to work better at night lol. Unfortunately for the last ten years I had a job where I started work (for eight years) at 3.30am and (the other two years) 5.15am. I'm happy to say I am now getting back into late nights lol.

    Have a great week

  8. What a cool stencil. And what a great idea. I may have to case your stencil. I love circles and I can envision using it. :-) I hope the dry wall guy got those holes taken care of. :-)

  9. I tried to make hot glue stencils once, was cool but i think I need a gun with a smaller nozzle. If you have bought the bigger sized sticks you might as well buy the bigger gun lol. Vicky#66
