Art Challenge: Use a Hand Carved Stamp

Journal Prompt:  Tapestries

Hello everyone!  Happy Friday!  Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week?!?!  I have to keep reminding myself that it is indeed true and that the end of the year is nearly here!  And on that note, I have some very exciting and happy news to share with y'all!  All of those DLP pages that I've been furiously trying to make up... I finally finished the last make up page this week!!!!  I am all caught up!  Yes, I am jumping for joy and shouting from the rooftops!  Now I can focus on the upcoming #30daysoflists for December.  Be on the lookout for more information coming this week.  But enough jabber... onto this week's DLP page!

I started with Dylusions paint and baby wipes for a nicely subtle background.  I then spritzed, sprayed, flipped, and stenciled coordinating inks and more paint through a variety of stencils.

Time for stamps!  I used a variety of my own handmade stamps.  These are foam stamps that I made using a wood burning tool to create shapes and designs in the foam.  I used a huge flower stamped in Teal ink (look closely behind the words "make art), an arrow stamped in black, a swirl stamped in green, and chevron type stamped in green.  Once my background was completely dry, I used the Dylusions Journal Block to mark out borders on each page.  I used a Brush tip Pitt Pen and my trusty Uni-Ball Signo to create a black and white pattern within the border.  I used the Dylusions Alpha stamps for my quote.

After everything was dry, I used a Mini Blending Tool and Black Marble Dylusions paint to paint the outside of my borders.  I used White Linen and the large Bubbles stencil for the last layer on my border.  I thought it needed a little something else so I took my Fude pen and drew threads here and there and a couple of tapestry needles to fill in some of the open spaces.  I really think those little doodles complete the page wonderfully.

I know this whole page is very busy... this seems to be a theme with me lately - busy pages... and it's rather dramatic with it's acid green and black but I like it!  I really think the black and white help to push all the green back and stand out well.

That's my share this week!  I will be posting the rest of my completed pages throughout the day on their respective dates.  I hope y'all all have a great weekend and a very Happy Thanksgiving!
