Art Challenge: Use a Mask

Journal Prompt:  "Mask"arade

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I know with the "official" start to the holidays, everything is going to get just super crazy, but I am glad that y'all took a moment in your crazy worlds to stop by my little blog.

My family had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We went nowhere, saw no one but those we wanted to see, and I cooked.  It was perfectly fabulous.  Oh, and I managed to get some art done!  Like this week's DLP page!

It seems I'm still on something of a green-kick at the moment.  My lady was created with my beloved Neocolor II's and Inktense pencils of course.  The background began life as two green Neocolor II's and morphed into Dylusions in Cut Grass and Fresh Lime to create the drips.  Then out came my favorite Heidi Swapp butterfly mask.  I've used this mask/stencil set numerous times this year but I just can't seem to help myself.  I originally was going to use it to create an actual mask on my lady's face but couldn't bring myself to cover her up.  I used London Blue Dylusions Ink over the butterfly mask and then topped it with some deliciously shimmery Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Icicle Blue.  You can see some of this delightful shimmer especially on the top butterfly!

I used the stencil of the same butterfly to stamp the circles inside the wings and then the mask again so I could stamp the flowers around.  The flowers are from the Dylusions stamp set "How Does Your Garden Grow" and the stems are from the Dylusions stamp set "Further Around the Edge".  I colored my flowers with Inktense pencils.

I added a quote using my Uni-Ball Signo pen: "Sometimes it's not the people who change... It's the mask that falls off."  Love this quote.  And in my experience, one that is very true.

I can't believe that there are only five little ol' weeks left in this year and that I will be saying good-bye to this challenge!  I haven't yet decided if I am going to try to participate in it next year... there are a couple of other challenges (Wanderlust & Lifebook) that I really want to do and I think between those and everything else, I really won't be able to keep up with another weekly/yearly challenge.  But we'll see.  The fabulous ladies from Art to the 5th haven't posted anything yet about what next year's challenge will be other than it will be an "UnPlanner".

I do however have one other challenge I am doing this year and that is the December edition of #30 Days of Lists.  I'm furiously working on getting my elaborately decorated holiday journal together...why elaborately decorated?  I dunno!  I got some new stamps and stencils and I think that is cause for something over the top!  I'll be posting a little something about it tomorrow hopefully.

Anyway, that's my share this week.  I hope y'all have a lovely weekend and I'll see you next week!
