Art Challenge: Deli Paper

Journal Prompt:  You Had Me At Hello

I've been taking Tamara Laporte's free class: Art, Heart, & Healing this week while procrastinating on this journal page.  I just didn't know what to do with Deli Paper.  I had some gelli printed deli paper that I'd done a while back so I knew what I was going to use; I just didn't know how I was going to use it.  Well, what better way to practice some of the techniques Tam was teaching than to apply them to a journal page!

"You had me at hello" was a great starting place.  My hubby and I just celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary so I decided to create characters to represent us.

The deli paper comes into play as the flowers my Prince Charming is holding as well as the houses in the background.

I really love how this turned out.  Doing a flip through the rest of my journal this page sticks out as the most "pastel" and "restful" page in the whole thing.  Everything is just so much brighter.  I definitely think I'm going to have to do some more pages like these.  I love the little Prince and Princess characters and y'all know I love my Neocolor IIs.

Here are some close ups.  The look cute even out of context if I do say so!  I kind of wish they weren't so far apart on the spread but it's getting difficult to work in my journal.  It's very bulky by now and I still have a ton of pages to catch up on so it's only going to get worse!  Oh well!  By the end of the year I'm going to adore looking at all of the finished pages and one day I hope my girls will love looking back at their Mama's art too.

I hope y'all have a good weekend.  As always, I'm off to work.  But this weekend I think I'll take my DLP journal with me and try to catch up on some of the pages I'm behind on!

    1. Thank you Dea. That's what I love about this whole project - it's getting me rather out of my comfort zone. I'm enjoying the challenge though for sure!

  5. They are cute and I have problems with nearly all the DLP prompts. I don't have deli paper so I just sanded some wax paper. I love how you have used yours.

    1. Thanks Suz! A friend gave me some deli paper over the summer and I'd made a few gelli prints with it but it's sat in a drawer since then. Sanded wax paper? I'm going to have to check that out!
