Art Challenge: Vellum

Journal Prompt:  Sheer Genius

Hi all!  Back again this lovely Friday with another DLP page!  This week the challenge was vellum and and the prompt was "Sheer Genius".  Hmmm, when I think of "sheer" I think of boudoir curtains and lingerie but I also think of shadowy forest bowers curtained by veils of leaves.  So I decided to keep the page G rated and went with leaves.  I had a stash of clear vellum paper so what is more natural than stamping some leaves?

I used a Dylusions Stamp set because I'm awful at drawing leaves.  I also used some butterflies (because again, what's more natural than butterflies among the leaves?  I used an Elmer's Craft Bond glue stick to glue my vellum pieces down and I'm quite pleased with it.  I know that a lot of adhesives "show" through the vellum and this stuff doesn't.  So yay!  Although, I did knock on of my leaves off while taking it outside to photograph.  I didn't realize it until I'd gotten back inside.  Oh well.  I've since then glued the errant leaf and sealed the page.

The quote is stamped from a Unity Stamp Co. SMAK kit.  I love it..."Always be a work in progress."  I think to be a genius is to know that you don't know everything and to constantly be learning and growing - to always be a work in progress.  So there you have it... I found my "sheer" in the leaves and my "genius" in the quote.  It works for me!

I'm still working on finishing up all the pages I'm behind on and I think I might actually be able to get them all finished by Christmas!  I'm hoping so anyway.  Really hoping so!

I can't wait to see what October's last challenge is.  I can't think of any other "translucent paper" that we haven't done yet so it'll be interesting to see.  See y'all next week with tomorrow's challenge!

Until then,

  1. Vellum is so much fun! It gives a kind of otherworldly look when you layer with it. I love the colors you used, just beautiful!
