Art Challenge:  Inks

Journal Prompt:  Before the Ink is Dry

Good morning everyone!  I hope your Friday is off to a great start!  This week's challenge was all about inks and I have to say that I had every intention on properly using inks but let this page go quite off track!  I'm still working on my faces (and eyes) as you can see!  I did however take the prompt more seriously and did a ton of wet work on the face.  So much so that I actually tore through a little bit of the paper in her eyebrow!  I think I finally have found the limit to what this journal can take.  I'm still extremely pleased with the amount of abuse I have been able to throw at this journal.  But super duper wet on wet on wet techniques are better left to watercolor paper.

I started out with my face and a very bright and bold background.  Then some crazy notion came over me to use a butterfly mask by Heidi Swapp and cover up 90% of my background!  I still like how it turned out but I wish I'd left more of the background peeking through.  And I forgot to go back and finish blending the forehead.  I think that was about the the time I discovered the tear in my paper.

My sentiment stamp is from Unity Stamp Co. (April S.M.A.K. kit), the leaf stamps you can see peeking through the butterflies are Dylusions and the circle stencil is Dylusions as well.  I had every intention of using india inks and dylusions spray ink but never got around to it!  Oops!

I will try to be better next week about at least taking the challenge seriously!  For my face I used a mixture of Neocolor II's, Acrylics, Stabilo All Pencil, and of course my ever present and favorite Uni-Ball Signo white pen.  Which reminds me, I am in desperate need to order more of those!

That's it for this week!  I'm going to try to keep up with my Documented Life pages over the next few weeks but I can make no guarantee.  The hubby and I are house hunting and hoping to find a new place very soon.  Which means packing, moving, unpacking, and settling in.  All the while trying to continue working!  Not an easy thing to do.  At least we're moving locally - just across town.  We actually have an appointment this afternoon to go look at the last house on our list.  This better be it!  We're just about out of time and I need this house to be the one that provides me with a little studio space!  Wish us luck!

So if I drop off the face of the planet for a few weeks, y'all know what happened!  We found a place and are moving!

Until next time y'all, have a great day!
