Art Challenge:  Acrylics

Journal Prompt:  Cry Me a River

There is no denying it... I love color.  I am a color-holic, a color slut.  I just can't help it!  And I love my acrylics.  I wanted something bright, something funky, and something different this week.  After all, art journaling is supposed to be about moving out of your comfort zone and playing with new techniques and new products.  My crafty bestie, Elizabeth, was cleaning out her studio this week and she gave me a whole heap of collage sheets she had purchased from Mischief Circus (previously Deviant Scrap).  They were so quirky and funky I just had to find a use for them - especially since many of them were Gypsy-themed!

I started my layout with Turquoise and Blackberry Violet (Dina Wakley) and added swirls of bright color using Faber-Castell Gelatos®.  Some stenciling, doodles, and of course collage made for a very bright, busy, funky, and severely quirky layout.  I love it!

It's not that I'm not sympathetic.  I have had plenty of bad days, experiences, and just bad stuff in my life.  I learned a long time agothat you can either wallow or suck it up and move on.  Every day is a new day and the only thing in life that you can absolutely count on is that everything changes.  So go ahead and cry a river, but then get over it and move on.

I hope y'all enjoy this layout as much as I do.  I'm finding myself loving a lot of these so far.  I know I keep saying "Oh!  I think this is my favorite so far!" but most of them are my favorites.  I'm really pushing myself to think outside of my comfortable box and push my own personal limits.  Of course, that's the point of art journaling... to try new things without the fear of them being "terrible" or "not perfect".

Oh yeah, and as the perfect excuse to buy new supplies to try!

Needless to say, I went on Mischief Circus and purchased quite a few of my own Collage Packs so y'all will be seeing more funky collage on my projects!

Have a great week!
