Supply Saturday Ed. 1 - Stamp Cleaner

Welcome Readers to the First Edition of my Supply Saturday!  I've decided to post about the supplies I use, how I use them, and just general tips, tricks, and tutorials.  I'm jumping right in today and I hope you'll find this post useful!

The inspiration from the post comes from an immediate need to clean my acrylic blocks.  I know we all love how pretty and clean our blocks look when we first open them.  Or maybe that's just me?

After several messy stamping sessions later, my blocks end up looking something like this:

That's just awful isn't it?  It makes it really hard to position my stamps because I can't see through all that ink!  So it's time to break out the cleaner and make them all pretty again.

I picked up a bottle of StazOn All Purpose Stamp Cleaner at Michael's while it was on clearance.  Not sure if it was on Clearance because they won't be carrying it any more or if StazOn isn't making it but it was cheap and I figured I would give it a try.  Now, I have heard my crafty bestie say that this cleaner doesn't work for her unless she's used StazOn Ink.  I think she's using it wrong because I use Ranger Archival, StazOn, and all my other inks and this cleaner has no problem cleaning my stamps or blocks - even after ink has been on there months and months and many many stamps ago.

It's super easy to use.  It has a dauber like Distress stains.  Put your blocks or stamps on a paper towel, smear on your cleaner, wait a few minutes and wipe with another paper towel.  Voila!  Instant clean.  If you have a few specks or stubborn bits left, try another dab or scratch off with your fingernail.  According to the directions on the bottle, you should wash your hands immediately after use.  I, ummmm, don't.  I wipe down with a baby wipe because it does have a weird feeling on skin, but I like to live dangerously!

I'm really awful about cleaning my stamps - as in, I generally don't bother unless I've been using pigment ink or acrylic paint... then I clean straight away with water or a baby wipe.  My blocks get cleaned, while not regularly, but when they look that bad and I can't find the stamp it's time to clean.

In a pinch, alcohol wipes work pretty well too.  I've found that rubbing alcohol on a towel/cotton swab/q-tip doesn't work.  But the alcohol wipes found in First Aid kits will do the job!

That's what I've got for you today!  Check back next Saturday for another fun edition of Supply Saturday!

Happy crafting y'all.
