Paint the Rainbow - Artist Trading Cards

"Love is like a rainbow.  You can never find the end."

Hey y'all!  I'm sharing another set of ATCs I made for my #ATCclub2015!  These are for March and the theme is "rainbows".

The idea for this ATC came from Pinterest.  The original ATC was made with butterflies and was much more beautifully executed than mine, but I'm still digging how this turned out.

I started with old dictionary pages and used my favorite distress ink "watercoloring" background technique.

I kept going through all the colors of the rainbow - excluding indigo for a lovely pink!

Aren't these papers just yummy?!?!  I love the smear, spritz, and drag distress technique so much - you get these awesome organic and watercolor effects with so little effort!  I very nearly couldn't bring myself to cut them up - but I pushed through that and cut them into little strips.

I must've punched a gazillion of those little hearts out - I still have about a million that I am storing in zip lock bags to use on future projects.  I used an itty bitty Recollections heart punch and it didn't take me as long as I thought it would.

I began adhering all the multi colored hearts to some ATC bases I had previously sprayed with Dylusions Inks - I'm not even sure which colors I used but I think it was Lemon Zest and Cut Grass.  I used Aleene's Tacky Glue to adhere the hearts - one little dot in the middle because I wanted to maintain a little texture and dimension.  I started with yellow and worked my way up the color wheel.

I originally used those lovely little pink hearts here:
Which is lovely, but I wanted to add a larger heart and couldn't for the life of me figure out where I was going to put it.  So I sacrificed my lovely pink hearts.  As they were glued (and dry) I didn't remove them, I simply attached my new pink hearts (swipes of picked raspberry distress paint and stamped with Dina Wakley's Colleged Hearts) with small foam adhesive - which gave the ATCs even more dimension!

I'm still trying to figure out where I'm going to use all those millions of tiny hearts, but I'm sure I will find a place!

Have a crafty day!
