Hearts & Lace - Artist Trading Cards

Happy Wednesday my Crafty Friends!

Today I'm sharing a set of ATCs I made for my #ATCclub2015 on Instagram.  The theme for February is "Hearts, Lace, and Doilies".

I wasn't great about taking pics because I worked on these while at work mostly and had visitors in my office!

I began with a brayered background of Primary Blue and Titanium White (Liquitex Basics) and used the Crafter's Workshop 6x6 Template "Bricks" and Alizarin Crimson (Liquitex Basics).  Atop the brick I used a white charcoal pencil and around the bricks, a black charcoal.  I brayered little spatters of Dina Wakley Media Heavy Body Acrylic in Turquoise for additional interest.

I glued down a blue paper doily (Michael's) and added a strip of washi (also found at Michael's) with pink and red arrows.  To finish the background, I used the Crafter's Workshop 6x6 stencil, "Confetti".  I love how grungy that stencil is!

To make the bird, I smeared Peacock Feathers Distress Ink along my craft mat, spritzed with water, and dragged my paper through.  I stamped using Salty Ocean Distress Ink a Layers of Life ("All for Love" - December 2014) heart stamp.  Of course, the bird is one of Dina Wakley's Scribbly Birds - I love those so much!!

The Red and Pink hearts were made using the same distress ink smearing method with Festive Berries and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks.  Stamped with Dina Wakley's Collaged Hearts and coated with a generous layer of Distress Crackle Paint (Rock Candy).  I love the cracked look of the heart!

I added a little hand written "love you" with a black micron and used my Uni-Ball Signo White pen to outline the top heart from the Confetti stencil.  These love birds couldn't get any cuter!

I've gone a little gaga over hearts lately but with Valentine's Day being just a few days a way, I guess it's only natural!

Y'all know me by now, these cards are full of tons of layers, but that's just how I roll!  I'll leave you with a close up of those fabulous hearts and bid you all Happy Crafting!
