Grab Bag Swap - Artist Trading Cards

What on earth is a Grab Bag Swap?  Well, it's one of my friend Elizabeth's creations.  She came up with the idea to have 10 folks make 10 ATCs out of materials "grabbed" from her "bag of fun".  She had 10 people volunteer and she drew materials from a hat.  I originally was supposed to have "Gears", but considering I'd just done a second Steampunk-themed swap, I was kinda "geared-out".  So I swapped with another person and got buttons instead.

Button, button, who's got the button?

Why, I've got the button!  Twelve cards full!

I used all the stamps in the "Seamless Experience" stamp set except the sentiment.  I stamped them in Rusty Hinge and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and then stamped the dress form in Jet Black.  I added my button washi tape.  Then came those blasted buttons!  I had every single intention of actually sewing them on.  That intention lasted for exactly 5 buttons.  It's not the sewing itself I have a problem with.  It's knotting the damn thread initially.  I don't have tiny fingers and while I can manage fiddly little things pretty well, thread has never been my friend.  That might well be why I stopped cross stitching.

The rest of the buttons I simply glued on using Ranger Glossy Accents.  Once it dried, they were stuck.... much better than sewing them!

And there you have it.  My Button ATCs all in a row!

Materials Used:

Distress Ink - Old Paper, Rusty Hinge, Gathered Twigs
Ranger Archival Ink - Jet Black
Stamps - Tim Holtz Cling Stamps "Seamless Experience"
The Paper Studio - Spare-Parts Washi Tape - "Sewing"
The Paper Studio - Bag 'o Buttons
Ranger Glossy Accents
Black Thread
