Trick or Treat - Artist Trading Cards

Hey y'all!  Only one more day until Halloween!

I wanted to share some more spooky ATCs I made for my Facebook Group Swap.

The Swap started out with only 3 cards (I usually make an extra to keep for myself).  I used Distress Ink in Black Soot to color the ATC itself and the edges of some spooky patterned paper by Recollections.  Then I stamped "October 31st" and a Bat stamp also by Recollections.  I cut out several tags from patterned paper, inked the edges with Gathered Twings Distress Ink and attached them with a copper colored brad.  I used some small alpha stamps to stamp "Happy Halloween" and added a Tim Holtz rub on to each.

These are some of the simplest cards I've done, but I really think that it works.  They've been a big hit any way!

Just as I completed that set of 4, I found out that a second set of 3 (different) had been added to the swap.

I had found a "Trick or Treat" Stamp Set by Inkadinkado on clearance at Michaels and had fallen for the little Trick or Treat-ers.  I again inked the ATC base with Black Soot Distress Ink and adhered another patterned paper by Recollections.  I then stamped the Tricksters in Archival Jet Black.  I also stamped "Trick or Treat" from the "All Hallows Eve" Stamp Set by Inkadinkado on some more tags I'd made from the earlier patterned paper.  I'd found some fantastic little brads and tags (again, from this year's Recollections Halloween collection at Michael's) on sale which I added to each end of the tag.  Add some Orange Chevron washi tape and my second set was complete!

Honestly, I think I like the second set better.  But only because I just love that stamp so much!

Happy Haunting tomorrow y'all!  Hope you get lots of treats and no tricks!

Wizard of Oz Swap - Artist Trading Cards

"You have no power here!  Begone before somebody drops a house on you too!"

Wizard of Oz ATCs!!!

There's something about the stripped stockings that i just love.  And the house.  Falling on the Wicked Witch of the East.  Favorite scene.  Ever.

Ok, so yeah, I went a trifle bit "fan girl scream" in my head.  Sorry about that!  I wanted to take a slightly different approach with these ATCs.  I haven't done much drawing lately and I figured I could manage to hand draw these.  So I did!  I made them a little "sketchy" so they'd have the look of a printed stamp without having to actually buy a stamp.

Materials used:
Faber-Castell Pitt Pens, watercolors, and "wood" pieces of patterned cardstock.  Which makes an excellent house - even though the house is white in the movie.

This was a fun swap to do!  Now I'm off to see the Wizard and travel over the rainbow (must go watch movie!).

Until next time,
Laters!

Halloween Artist Trading Cards

Halloween is getting closer and closer!  Have I mentioned that Halloween is my favorite time of year?  Well it IS!!!

These cards are extras I did while doing my Halloween Swap on Instagram.  They turned out so fun!  I used a variety of Halloween Themed scrapbook papers, Distress Ink, White Memento Ink, Black Ranger Ink, Different Hampton Art stamps and my Orange Glitter Glue.

I love those little ghosts!

I just love Halloween so much.  I'm sure I'll be making tons more of these cards - because I have tons of papers and stamps that are just begging to be used!

Until next time, y'all!

Happy Haunting!

Steampunk Swap - Artist Trading Cards

Hey y'all!

Ok, so this is how my friend Elizabeth comes up with all of her ATC Swap ideas.  Either someone makes a suggestion, or she either finds or goes looking for a specific stamp.  Once she finds the stamp, then she comes up with a swap.

She got a hold of a few Steampunk-themed stamp sets and voila!  Steampunk Swap!!!

I love the whole gear and clock steampunk thing.  I truly do.  So I grabbed my supplies and made these cards:

I used Distress Inks, Tarnished Brass Distress Paint, The Crafter's Workshop Gears Stencil, a clock stamp from Graphic 45, Molding Paste, 7Gypsies Washi Tape, and Metal Gears from Tim Holtz.

I must admit - these are some of my favorite ATCs I have ever created!

Makes me want to toss on a corset and jump into my time machine!

If y'all don't hear from me again in a couple of days - check Victorian England!

Owl Swap - Artist Trading Cards

Owls, owls, and more owls!  This time it's an Owl-Themed ATC Swap!

Eight Violet Owls sitting in a row.  I used a lino block I'd cut last semester for school.  I printed with Liquitex Basics Acrylic in Prism Purple on top of a Distress Ink (Dusty Concord & Peeled Paint, and an Inkadinkado stamped background.  Then I used my favorite white gel pen to doodle around and on the owl and purple Studio G glitter glue to create dots on the edges.

Some of the prints turned out better than others, but I love that some are faded and some are more vibrant.  That's the wonder of hand printing/crafting things.  No matter how many times you do it, it turns out differntly each and every time!

Well, that's all I've got for now.  Y'all have a great day!

Red, Yellow, and Orange Swap - Artist Trading Cards

The next theme for my Facebook ATC Group is Red, Yellow, and Orange!  Not my favorite colors - I'm more of a cool color kinda girl.  But I rallied.  Especially since I've just gotten my hands on some of Dina Wakley's Heavy Body Acrylic Paint.

I have heard and seen the reviews that absolutely rave about this paint.  My local Hobby Lobby finally stocked 6 of the 12 colors and I snatched them up with alacrity.  Everything they say about this paint is True! True! True!

It is vibrant, juicy, thick yet pliable.  It's dry time is not nearly instant like craft paint, but is a little quicker than liquitex basics.  It is absolutely wonderful.

I used Lemon and Tangerine on the background.  Then I stamped a Graphic 45 stamp in Red, using Stampabilities Pigment Ink.

While everything was drying, I stamped one of Dina's Hearts onto a piece of red cardstock - the picture makes it look kind of purple-ish, but the actual color is a deep red.  I cut that out and cut out a little hand-written sentiment.  I glued it all down and then used Fired Brick Distress Ink to color the white paper of the sentiment.

I did say that for the Facebook group, I only have to make 3 cards.  That's true.  But I made 4 because my friend really wanted one, so I went a head and made her an extra.  It's nice to have your work loved and appreciated!
