Autumn ATCs

Fall is coming.  Even though my mid to high-90's days aren't ending.  Even though it still feels like it's in the 100's.  Fall is coming.  It has to!!!

To get in the spirit and mood (cool thoughts and all), I joined a Fall-Themed ATC Swap.  (Of course I did!)  Pumpkins and gorgeous colors, leaves and burlap.  Ahhh, the very thought makes my brain feel cooler!  I got finished with all 10 cards and then my best friend said she wanted them all and why did I have to make each one different!  So I scrapped the idea of these cards being used for the swap and gave her her pick (5 of them!) and am in the process of trading the rest of them to other people.  I do love how they turned out!

Materials used:

Various stamps, burlap, glitter glue, Glossy Accents, Distress Inks, scrapbook papers, old book papers, a leaf stencil I borrowed from my friend (one of the crafter's workshop stencils), Micron pens, acrylic paint, washi tape, and some cupcake toppers!

I found the orange leaf and trio of pumpkins at Hobby Lobby for under $1.  They're cupcake toppers found in the Fall Decor section.  I thought they would work wonderfully as collage pieces.  I was pleasantly surprised at how well they do work (even though it was my idea!).

After scrapping the idea of using these pieces for my Fall Swap, I had to come up with a new idea.  I'll share those ATCs with y'all next time.

Until then,

Letter Swap

Hey y'all!

I announced a while back that I had gotten on Facebook (which I admit, I'm as bad about updating as I am blogging).  The whole reason I even got on facebook was because some of my Instagram ATC friends belonged to a Facebook ATC Group and wanted me to join.  So join I did.  And it is a blast!

I've been involved in several swaps with them so far with more to come.

One of those swaps was a letter themed swap.  No rules, just letters, and of course - standard ATC size.

I'd just been on a shopping trip with a friend of mine to Tuesday Morning (which I didn't realize even sold crafting supplies!) and had some new stamps to try out as well as some brand new Twinkling H20 watercolors.

I love these fun and colorful little cards.  And I really love my new Twinks!  I promise, those are going to start showing up in more and more of my projects!

Materials used on these cards: Stamps by Hampton Art, Twinkling H20s, Golden Molding Paste, Tim Holtz Bubble Stencil, Colored Pencils, Washi Tape, Alpha Stamps by Hampton Art, and Souffle Pens.

See, I told y'all I'd been very very busy creating!

Happy Arting and I'll see y'all next time!

Back to School Swap

With school starting, another ATC Swap I joined was themed: Back to School.

I originally thought of school buses and that large printing paper we all used when first learning to write.  I was having difficulty coming up with stamps or ephemera to go along with the thoughts in my head until I realized I could do a "chalk board".  So I busted out my Distress Paint (black soot & picket fence) and my Memento Ink pad in White and went to town!

I particularly like who the Geography and Anatomy cards turned out.  And I am always glad to find more uses for stamps I bought for a single project!

No one uses chalkboards in school anymore which is unfortunate.  I miss clapping erasers and the fun of watching those white dust circles appear as things were erased.  What I don't miss, however, is the sound of squeaking chalk and that one class asshole who had to run his nails down the board!

White boards just aren't as much fun!

Laters y'all!

ABC Swap - Artist Trading Cards

The next ATC swap I was asked to join was a daunting 26 card full alphabet swap.  Now, I've stated before that working small just isn't my thing.  But these ATCs are a way for me to use new techniques, break through size barriers and just have some fun.  Plus it is a fantastic excuse to let my Art Supply Addiction run rampant!

These are the cards I made:

Again, I used a variety of media.  Stamps by Tim Holtz, Dylusions, Recollections, and Inkadinkado.  Distress Inks, Ranger Archival Inks, Studio G inks, and StazOn inks, some Vintage Stickers by Tim Holtz Idea-Ology, various scrapbook papers, and these fabulous chipboard letters I found by K&Company.

It really wasn't easy figuring out what to do for some of the letters (such as Q, V, X, Y, and Z!) so I just had to make it up as I went along.  I absolutely did go out searching for particular stamps.  I bought a whole jar stamp set just for J and bought one of Tim Holtz's Halloween sets for the skeleton on X.  I needed an X-Ray!

This card set really pushed my limits but I would definitely be willing to do another swap!

See y'all next time.  Happy Arting!

Summer Swap - Artist Trading Cards

So I've been working my fingers to the bone on ATC swaps.  I love, adore and am having the best time in the world doing these swaps.  The only thing that really sucks about them is that our dear host doesn't want us posting pictures of our cards before they're all mailed out.  I love the surprise of seeing who's card I get so I go along with this "rule".  But it makes me have to wait a super long time to post these super secret cards!

These Summer-themed ATCs were done way back in July!  My first ever swap.

When I think of summer, I immediately think of the beach.  And the beach makes me think of the ocean.  And then I think of all manner of ocean-type stuff!

These cards were made with a variety of supplies.  Watercolors, Distress Inks, Tim Holt Stamps, Dylusions Stamps, Heidi Swapp Stencils, miscellaneous Recollections Stamps, Martha Stuart Stickers, Sharpie Paint Pens, 7Gypsies Alpha Stamps, various other ink pads, and some tiny Prima Stamps.

They were a lot of fun to make and I hated seeing some of them go (like the Dive Deep atc - I'm going to have to make myself one of those because I love it!).  And of course, it kicked off my ATC obsession!

I need to take pics of the ones I received because they're amazing.  Maybe I can get to that sometime next week!

Until then,
