Time and Luck: an Art Journal Page

"Time and Luck wait for no man.  Make your own"

I've really been enjoying the Golden Fiber Paste.  Really, I think I'm in love.  I adore the texture you get from it - and not just peaks and such, but the feel of running your fingers over it.  Rough and yet not - just like handmade paper.  I don't know why I took so long to try it.

Since this medium is my current "go-to" medium, I had to find another way to use it.  Light bulb!  It would make great playing cards.  So today's art journal page is all about Time and Luck!

I also picked up some of Tim Holtz's Remnant Rubs locally with some fantastic numbers on them.  Of course, they had to go in the journal!

I hope you enjoy.  As always, the material list can be found at the bottom of this post.

Created with flickr slideshow.

Little hint about getting the playing cards to be white:

It took many many many layers of white gesso, titanium white acrylic, and fiber paste.  I mixed both the gesso and acrylic with the fiber paste each time I applied it.  I think I ended up with 10 or so coats to make the cards opaque and not show the colors underneath.  It was a labor of love!

Also, the fiber paste (and so many coats) make the page very very heavy.  There's no degredation of the page underneath, but it definitely has some weight to it.

Thanks for watching and reading y'all!

Laters!
